World Data Center Sunspot Index and Long term Solar Observations (WDC SILSO)
WDC SILSO is a Member of the World Data System, funded through the Royal Observatory of Belgium, the STCE and through soft funding (e.g. Belgian projects, Brain.be).
Stakeholders : Space Weather and Space Climate thus society and policy makers, also space agencies, Sunspot Number as input (e.g. ionosphere)
Primary community : Long term evolution of the Sun (Sunspot Number “Workshops” community), Climate, Space Climate, Space Weather
WDC-SILSO primary area of focus : International Sunspot Number (EISN, SN), predictions, and associated station (USET) provides ARs in real-time (DIGISUN, “multiplatformed” -> network ). WDC SILSO coordinates sunspot number observations but also efforts to maintain and improve SN. Long-term aspect of the SN includes historical space weather.
