Following resolution 45/72 of 1990 and 50/27 of 1995 of UNGA, the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) inaugurated the African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (ARCSSTE-E) in Nigeria on 24th November, 1998. The Centre serves all the English-speaking countries in Africa. The Governing Board consists of all the member states.

Mandate: Develop, through in-depth education, indigenous capability in the core areas of Space Science and Technology ‘SST’

Core Activities: Education, Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) programme, M.Sc programme, Space Education and Outreach Programme, Research & Development

Short Term Training in SST 6 Thematic Areas of Space Science and Technology: Remote Sensing/Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Satellite Communication, Satellite Meteorology/Global Climate, Basic Space Science/Space Weather/ Atmospheric Physics, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and Space Law.
